Histories of SCCAL Team Championships

Below on this page you will find the league championship histories for every SCCAL sport since the league’s inception in 1976.

A couple notes to remember:

  1. Football, for the first 41 years of the SCCAL, was contested in the SCCAL. However, in the spring of 2017, because of the strength of the Aptos FB program under Coach Randy Blankenship’s direction, the SCCAL FB coaches voted Aptos football out of the SCCAL (all other sports remained in the SCCAL). Hence, in the fall of 2017, Aptos FB moved back to the MBL. However, after the 2017 season, the SCCAL completely collapsed its FB league, and all the local teams, including Aptos, joined the brand-new four-tiered PCAL equity league. In equity leagues, the divisions are determined by the strength of the teams. The strongest teams are in the top division, the next strongest are in the next division, and so on. Teams realign between divisions every year, good teams moving-up divisions, and bad teams moving down. Every SCCAL team that has won a PCAL championship in any division is listed below.
  2. Sometimes, due to a shortage of SCCAL-participating teams, some sports have played in other leagues at various times. For example, Water-Polo has played in the MBL, the TCAL, the PCAL, and currently in the SCCAL. Similarly, Lacrosse has played in the TCAL, the SCCAL, the MBL, the MTAL, and currently in the PCAL. In the histories below, we do not distinguish championships won in different leagues.
